Women's Tennis Prevails in 5-4 Nail-Biter at Dickinson

CARLISLE, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's women's tennis team picked a key 5-4 victory at Dickinson on Saturday. The Diplomats (3-3, 3-3 CC) and Red Devils (3-2, 3-2 CC) evenly split the singles matches so the doubles matches, which all went to tiebreaks, were even more amplified as F&M's 2-1 advantage after those three matches ultimately paved the way to victory.

By the Numbers
With all of the doubles matches going into the aforementioned tiebreaks, the Diplomats needed their pairings to step up and they certainly delivered. At No. 1 doubles, Cassidy Landau and Sammi Perry conceded just one tiebreak point to deliver F&M a victory. The No. 3 pairing of Kayley Burke and Caroline Ulrich dominated with a 7-3 victory in their tiebreak. Dickinson salvaged the final doubles match on court at No. 2. After an extremely tight doubles competition, five of the six singles matches went in straight sets. Landau, and Burke doubled up their wins. Landau's was especially significant as her victory at No. 1 singles decided the team score. After falling 6-2 in the first, Landau bounced back with a 7-5 win in the second. She cruised in the third, winning that decisive set by a 6-1 score. Alex D'Angelo bounced back from a tough doubles result with a 6-2, 6-2 win in singles against an opponent from the winning side of her doubles match.
