SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall men's tennis team opened its fall season at the 2021 Swarthmore Invitational on September 11. In addition to the hosts, the challenging field also included Vassar and The College of New Jersey (TCNJ).
Played in a similar format to a traditional college dual, but with results counting only towards an individual's records, the Diplomats posted a strong 6-4 record in doubles play and recorded five additional victories in singles.
The Diplomats strongest showing of the weekend came against Vassar as F&M won three singles matches and two more in doubles. F&M also took three of the four contested doubles matches against the host Garnet.
The pairings of Justin Pace/Tristan Steffe and Anthony Casale/Pedro Norte both posted 2-1 records in doubles together while Ben Cooke and Daniel Feigelson went undefeated in their only match as doubles partners.
Isaac Rockower had the strongest showing in singles for Franklin & Marshall, registering a 2-1 record. Casale, Norte, and Steffe were also victorious throughout the weekend in singles action.
With a weekend of tournament play under their belts, the Diplomats will now turn their attention to the 2021 ITA South/Southeast Regional Championships. That championship event begins on Friday, October 1 and will once again be hosted by Mary Washington.
