HUNTINGTON, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's volleyball team suffered a tough 3-0 (25-19, 25-18, 25-21) loss to No. 16 Juniata in non-conference play on Friday night.
The Diplomats fell to 18-4, 9-0 CC while the Eagles improved to 18-6 overall.
F&M hung close with Juniata for a while, down just 16-15 at one point in the opening set. The Eagles and Diplomats each claimed a 4-0 run to keep the score close at 20-19 before Juniata took the final five points to clinch the set.
Finding themselves down early, 7-1, the Diplomats went on a 7-3 run to get the score back within two points at 10-8. The Eagles went on a 14-6 run after that to go up 24-14, winning the set despite a late 4-0 run by F&M.
Juniata took another early lead in the third set, 11-4. F&M battled back to get the deficit within two points at 16-14, but then the Eagles took four consecutive points to give themselves a 20-14 cushion. Eventually, Juniata took the set, 25-21, despite another late push by the Diplomats.
Nicole Carey paced F&M's offense with nine kills.
Carlita Bozzo's 14 digs were the team-high.
F&M returns to action Wednesday night, hosting Lancaster Bible at 7:00 p.m.
