WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Seniors June Sanchez and Elizabeth O'Connell completed their decorated track & field careers on Thursday afternoon at the MIT Final Qualifier Meet. Both runners left everything they had on the track during their final collegiate race.
O'Connell wrapped up her career by becoming the second-fastest 1,500 meter runner in school history. Her time of 4:38.22 is topped only by All-American Sheena Crawley '13. That time also ranks among the top 50 times in Division III this season. Sanchez turned in a top-five placing performance of 2:16.36 during the 800 meters. She graduates from Franklin & Marshall holding the fourth-fastest time in program history for that event.
The last chance meet wraps up a busy week for the Diplomats' duo. In addition to a pair of meets this week, O'Connell and Sanchez both graduated from F&M last Saturday. O'Connell earned her degree in biology, while Sanchez earned her degree in economics and English. Both scholar-athletes graduated with honors from Franklin & Marshall.
