LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's women's swimming team earned a second-place finish at the F&M Invitational, accumulating 535 points over the course of three days. California University of Pennsylvania placed first with 677 points.
Katherine Grant picked up a win in the first event of the night, dominating the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:06.60. Teammate Maggie Johns followed with a second-place finish in 5:17.29. Alexia Tomlinson rounded out the Diplomat swimmers in the event with an eighth-place finish at 5:30.48.
Taylor Mateja earned a fifth-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke, finishing the race with a time of 2:16.04. In the following event, Krista Hollingsworth recorded a strong performance in the 100-yard freestyle, placing fourth with a time of 54.52.
In the 200-yard butterfly, Stephanie Brooks led F&M with a fourth-place finish at 2:17.91.
F&M nearly picked up a win in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a team of Hollingsworth, Grant, Johns and Jackie Behr finishing in second with a time of 3:40.42.
The Diplomats return to the pool on Jan. 19 when F&M faces off against. The meet is set to begin at 1:00 p.m.
