Women's Soccer Beats Ursinus, 2-1

LANCASTER, Pa.- The Franklin & Marshall women's soccer team (10-2-3, 4-2-2 CC), who's receiving votes in the national poll, defeated Ursinus (5-6-4, 1-5-2 CC) 2-1 Saturday evening on Senior Night at Tylus Field.

The Diplomats found the back of the net early off the foot of Alison Francis in the fourth minute of the match. Sophie Koziol found Francis in stride to set up a one-on-one opportunity with the UC goalkeeper. Francis booted a left-footed shot into the net for her sixth score of the season.

Later in the half, the Diplomats drew one of their six corner kicks in the 43rd minute of the match to set up a header from Kate Boujoukos into the left side of the net to give F&M a 2-0 lead. The score is Boujoukos' first career goal. Dahlia Pepe was credited with her fifth assist of the season on the play.

Ursinus found the back of the net in the 54th minute, but was unable to score the equalizer as the Diplomats held off the Bears.

F&M outshot UC in the match, 20-7.

The Diplomats play Gettysburg in a road CC matchup on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
