Women's Soccer Holds Off Lebanon Valley, 2-1

LANCASTER, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall women's soccer team (9-2-3,3-2-2 CC), who's receiving votes in the national poll, edged Lebanon Valley (5-4-4) 2-1 in Wednesday afternoon's non-conference matchup.

Sierra Brophy scored her team-leading 11th goal of the season in the 14th minute of the match after the LVC defense failed to clear the ball out of the box. Brophy collected the loose ball and found the back of the net for her sixth goal in four games.

F&M extended its lead in the 42nd minute on a free kick after a foul on LVC. Dahlia Pepe ripped a shot through the defense and into the net for her first goal of the fall.

The Diplomats had plenty of opportunities to add onto the lead as they peppered the LVC net, totaling 30 shots with 13 on net. Meg O'Callahan tried a distanced shot that was deflected away from the top-right corner of the net by the outstretched LVC goalkeeper Jocelyn Umana.

Later in the half, Zoe Warne found Bri Skidmore in stride to set up a 1-on-1 opportunity with Umana. Skidmore's shot was knocked down by the goalkeeper and cleared away from the net to extinguish the opportunity. Skidmore had another opportunity to score in the 70th minute when she chipped a shot that hit the crossbar. Pepe collected the rebound and passed it back to Skidmore who tried another shot. This time, the forward was denied by a diving snag by Umana.

F&M finished with four players with double-digit shots on goal in the victory.

The Diplomats return to Tylus Field Saturday at 6:00 p.m. to face Ursinus on Senior Night.
