LANCASTER, Pa. - Franklin & Marshall dropped its second straight Centennial Conference (CC) match, falling to Haverford 4-0 on Saturday afternoon at Tylus Field. With the loss, the Diplomats fell to 4-3-1, 1-2 CC while the Fords improved to 8-1-0, 2-0 CC.
The Fords found twine in the 29th minute, as a shot from the top of the box by Kendra Griesman was deflected and wrong-footed F&M keeper Sara Ghorashi for a 1-0 advantage. Haverford struck again in the 40th minute, as Griesman lofted a long-headed ball to the top of the box. A miscommunication in the Diplomats' backline allowed Haverford's Leanne Ludwick to find Ghorashi for a two-score advantage into the half.
Haverford added to its advantage in the 57th minute for a 3-0 lead. The Fords' final goal came in the 66th minute off a Ludwick corner kick that went into the upper 90 for a 4-0 advantage.
F&M had opportunities throughout the match, but Fords' backstops Hannah Friedrich and Claire Cywes combined for three saves for the victory. Friedrich improved to 8-1-0 on the season with the victory.
A goalkeeping trio of Ghorashi, Hessenthaler, and Caton Raffensperger made three saves in the loss. Ghorashi's record dropped to 2-3 with the loss.
Haverford outshot Franklin & Marshall 14-7, and led in corner kicks 5-4.
F&M takes a break from its conference schedule for a non-conference tilt against Hood on Wednesday evening at 4:00 p.m. on Tylus Field.
