WESTMINSTER, Md. - Franklin & Marshall's women's soccer team fell to McDaniel by a 4-0 score on the road Wednesday in Centennial Conference (CC) play.
The Diplomats dropped to 1-8-1, 0-5 CC while the Green Terror improved to 6-3, 3-2 CC.
McDaniel notched all of its scores in the first half but F&M held the Green Terror off of the scoreboard until the 18th minute until an unassisted tally put the Diplomats in a 1-0 hole.
Hannah Schepers tallied the game's first marker and followed with the next two for a hat trick, adding goals in the 23rd and 31st minutes to give McDaniel a commanding 3-0 edge. Jessie Titus rounded out the scoring in the 40th off a header into the top-left of the goal.
After allowing six shots on goal in the opening frame, the Diplomat defense buckled down in the second, surrendering just one shot on goal. However, the overall shot count favored the Green Terror by a 16-3 margin, while McDaniel also led in corners at 7-1.
Gabby Panayotakis (0-5-1) earned the start and registered a pair of saves in the first half. Tara Hessenthaler played the entire second half and did not surrender a score, while turning back one shot in 45 minutes of action.
The Diplomats continue CC competition on Saturday, hosting Ursinus for a 6:00 p.m. tilt.
