Women's Golf Wins Home Invitational

LANCASTER, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall women's golf team won its second straight tournament to open the fall season as the Diplomats took part in a tri-match with McDaniel and Dickinson on Saturday. The Diplomats saw five players finish in the 80s as the team finished with a score of 342 on the Overlook Golf Course. That finally tally was two strokes better than their team victory last weekend and matched the team's best score since the 2022 Centennial Conference Championship second round.

The Diplomats dominated the team standings as all five of the players on the scoring team took home the top five spots in the individual standings. Bryn Fitchett brought home medalist honors following her career-best round of 84, topping her previous best collegiate round by four strokes. Teammates Reilly Melvin and Janire Vela were right on her heels to finish as co-runners up in the event each turned in a card of 85. Vela's score matched her previous best round at the F&M Invitational during the spring of 2022, while Melvin trimmed two strokes off her score from last week and has posted rounds in the 80s during each of her first two collegiate tournaments.

Claire Hill and Lauren Chen both finished with rounds of 88. Hill has now posted three straight rounds in the 80s dating back to the conference championships last spring. Chen matched her score from the season-opening tournament and has shot under 90 during five of her last seven rounds. Chloe Schnur also hit the links as an individual and posted a score of 107 during her first collegiate competition.

Dickinson's Jillian Graff posted a round of 89 for the best card from any of the visiting teams, but only three players made the trip for the Red Devils which made them ineligible to post a team score. McDaniel finished with a team score of 429.

The Diplomats have two competitions left on their fall schedule and they will both be hosted by Dickinson and played at the Carlisle Barricks Golf Course. The first of those two events will be the Dickinson Fall Invitational next Saturday, September 24.
