Franklin & Marshall's field hockey team delivered one of the most successful seasons in its history, setting five individual program records while remaining one of the top-ranked teams in Division III, culminating in a finish as the national runner-up in 2019. The Diplomats ended the year with a 20-4 record - the most single-season wins in program history - and advanced to the NCAA Final Four for the second time in the last three seasons.

F&M earned one of five Pool C bids in the NCAA Tournament after falling to Johns Hopkins, 2-1, in the Centennial Conference (CC) Championship game on Nov. 9. The Diplomats hosted Hartwick on Nov. 13 in the program's 13th NCAA appearance, cruising to a 4-1 victory behind a pair of goals from Erin Coverdale.

The team advanced to the Sweet 16 to face host TCNJ. Lily Mynott delivered an overtime game-winner to devastate the No. 1 Lions, 4-3. Mynott recorded a hat trick the next day to advance past MIT, 5-1.

In the NCAA Final Four, F&M faced a familiar foe in CC rival Johns Hopkins on Nov. 23. Having lost the season's previous two matchups against the No. 5 Blue Jays, the Diplomats finally solved the puzzle, taking a 3-1 victory to advance to the National Championship against Middlebury for only the second time in school history and the first time since 1981. F&M gave a valiant effort against the Panthers, but was defeated 1-0 as Middlebury scored with just five minutes remaining in regulation to win its third consecutive NCAA Championship.

Erin Coverdale finished out her four-year career as the program record-holder in several categories. The two-time CC Offensive Player of the Year became the program's all-time leader in goals (56), points (136), and game-winning goals (18). Coverdale earned All-America honors for the third consecutive season, only the fourth Diplomat to be named to three All-America lists.

Lily Mynott completed one of the most impressive single-season individual performances in F&M history. The junior tallied 30 goals, doubling the next-most figure of anyone in the CC, and 65 points, setting program single-season record with both marks. Mynott picked up the CC Offensive Player of the Year Award and landed on the All-America, All-Region, and All-CC lists.

Melissa Gula impressed in her senior campaign, garnering regional Player of the Year and CC Defensive Player of the Year honors while landing on the All-America, All-Region, and All-CC lists. The midfielder started all 24 games and was a key cog in F&M's defense that allowed the fewest goals in the Conference with nine. On the offensive side, the co-captain was third on the team with six assists, tacking on five goals, including the game-winner over Elizabethtown on Aug. 30.

Christina Seery was a brick wall in the cage for an F&M defense that allowed just 20 goals all season. Seery was named to the All-America list for the first time in her career, also earning All-Region and All-CC First Team for the first time. Amid 10 shutout performances, the junior goalkeeper was also named CC Defensive Player of the Week two times. Seery started all 24 games for the Diplomats and her 0.80 goals-against average was good for 12th in the country.

For the ninth-straight year, the Diplomats were represented on the All-America list; and for the second consecutive season, multiple F&M players were honored with Gula, Mynott, Coverdale, and Seery all garnering All-America recognition to lead a slew of postseason accolades for the program.
