CARLISLE, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's women's basketball team suffered a 69-53 loss at Dickinson in Centennial Conference (CC) play on Tuesday night. The Diplomats fell to 4-8, 2-5 CC while the Red Devils improved to 6-5, 4-2 CC.
A trio of Kristin Hamill jump shots helped F&M to an 8-4 lead with 4:22 left in the quarter. An Emily Padalino three-pointer ignited Dickinson's offense, scoring 12 unanswered points as the Red Devils closed out the opening frame with a 16-8 advantage.
Kenna Williams made three layups as F&M narrowed the deficit to 18-14 in the second quarter before Dickinson clicked for a 13-5 stretch over the final 3:39. The Diplomats trailed 31-19 heading into the break.
Dickinson continued its pace to open the second half, erupting from three-point land for a 19-3 run to begin the third quarter, with all three F&M points coming on a three-point play by Maia Lockhart. Down 48-22 with under 4:30 to go in the frame, Sarosha Parsons hit a layup and Emily Moran knocked down a three-pointer to help the Diplomats mitigate the damage and enter the final stanza trailing 55-34.
The Diplomats and Red Devils traded baskets early in the fourth. F&M found a rhythm down the stretch, going on a 13-5 run over the final 6:55. Despite outscoring Dickinson 19-14 overall in the last quarter, the Diplomats ultimately fell by a 69-53 margin.
Hamill led F&M's offensive output with 15 points. The senior collected five boards, including her 650th career rebound. The senior became just the seventh Diplomat to score over 1,000 points and corral 650 career boards.
Williams finished with 12 points, converting all six of her free-throw attempts, along with a game-high 13 rebounds for her seventh double-double of the season.
Moran added seven rebounds and three assists across 32 minutes of action. Meg Navarro chipped in with four points and a pair of assists off the bench.
F&M returns home to host McDaniel in a CC tilt at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday night.
