Men's Cross Country Earns Best CC Championship Finish Since 2014

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall men's cross country team claimed a sixth-place finish at the 2022 Centennial Conference Championships. That team finish marked the Diplomats' highest place in the team standings since the 2014 season as F&M scored 189 points in the meet that was held at Haverford.

A career-best time of 26:09.1 helped Alfonso Knoll lead the Diplomats to the finish line. He placed 34th overall and was one of two F&M runners to break the 27-minute mark. Noah Hall, making his CC Championship debut, finished in a time of 26:47.0 to finish 49th in the final individual standings.

With two runners inside the top 50, the Diplomats solidified their finish with a tight group of runners to round out the scoring performances. Alex Fillman (53rd; 27:05.1), Alex Miller (55th; 27:08.6), and Chris Mayo (59th; 27:25.4) all finished among the team's top five.

Jack Emrey (27:31.0) and Connor Ashnault (27:32.4) were the team's sixth and seventh runners on the day. Both Mayo and Emrey had career best times at the 8,000 meter distance. Mike Maglione (27:46.4) made it eight Diplomats to finish under the 28-minute mark, while Owen McCann (28:49.4), Dan Gaiewski (29:52.4), and Jake Naddelman (32:23.0) also competed in the conference championship.

Men's cross country will return to action in two week at the NCAA Division III Mid-Atlantic Regional that will be held at the West Branch Cross Country Course in Lock Haven, Pa. NCAA bids will be on the line when those teams line up for the regional championship which will get underway at 12 p.m.
