Men's Cross Country Takes Down Gettysburg at Little Three Meet

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall men's cross country team took down Gettysburg to place second at the 2022 Little Three Cross Country Meet hosted by the Bullets on Friday evening. Dickinson, the fourth-ranked team in the Mid-Atlantic Region, won the annual rivalry event.

Staying strong and together as a team proved to be a huge asset for the Diplomats as Gettysburg had the top finisher in that head-to-head matchup, but F&M had eight across the line before the Bullets' second finisher. Alex Miller was the top Diplomat finisher, completing the 5,000 meter course in a time of 16:06.7 to place ninth.

The Diplomats second through fifth scoring runners were separated by less than nine seconds at the finish line. Noah Hall led that group with a time of 16:24.5 and finished in 12th place. Alex Fillman (16:28.6), Mike Maglione (16:29.5), and Alfonso Knoll (16:33.1) swept the 14th through 16th place slots in the individual standings. After another Red Devil, Owen McCann (16:50.4) and Connor Ashnault (16:59.0) each came across under the 17-minute mark and claimed finishes inside the top 20.

A total of 13 Diplomats took to the course on Friday evening. Jack Emrey (17:09.1) and Chris Mayo (17:33.0) both turned in top 25 individuals performances. Dan Gaiewski (18:10.1), Jake Naddelman (18:41.8), Holden Brown (18:43.1), and Nick Trapani (19:26.4) also completed the 5,000 meter course as the Diplomats were in competition for the second time in as many weeks.

Franklin & Marshall now takes its longest break from competition as the Diplomats begin training in preparation for the schedule to come featuring 8,000 meter races. After these ensuing three weeks of training, F&M returns to competition on Friday, September 30 at the prestigious Paul Short Run on the campus of Lehigh University.
