LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's men's cross country team is set to begin the 2017 season on Friday, traveling to Dickinson for the annual Little Three meet at 6:00 p.m. The Diplomats are aiming to build on an impressive 12th-place finish at last year's regionals, with three out of the five scorers from that event returning to the fold.

By securing that 12th-place showing out of 52 competing teams at last year's Mid-East Regionals, the Diplomats continued a string of consistency that saw the men's side place inside the top-20 for the sixth consecutive year. F&M needs to overcome the loss of their top-two runners in graduating senior's J.T. Paganelli and Michael Whalen, who each registered top-50 finishes at regionals.
Seven freshmen join a deep F&M team, with several figuring to battle for top-seven positions, while a group of eight returners will be counted on for their leadership and veteran experience.
Alex Fiori – Jr.
Ryan Kiger – Jr.
Spencer Lyman – Jr.
Pat Manion – Jr.
Bryce Williams – Jr.
Collin Roth – So.
Lyman broke the top-100 at regionals by finishing 58th with a time of 26:30 to lead F&M's returners. Manion and Roth will also be counted on as regulars in the top-five. Last season, Manion took first overall at the PSU-Abington Invitational with a time of 29:23.4 while Roth nabbed a pair of top-20 finishes during a strong freshman campaign.
Williams competed sparingly in 2016 due to injury, but will be looked upon to regain his freshman-season form when he was one of F&M's top runners.
The Road Ahead
Following the Little Three on Friday, the Diplomats' are set to compete in three additional regular season races leading up to the Centennial Conference (CC) Championships, hosted by Gettysburg on Sunday, Oct. 29 at 11:00 a.m. The NCAA Mid-East Regionals are set for Saturday, Nov. 11 at 11:00 a.m. and are taking place at Big Spring High School in Newville, Pa.
