LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's Emmett LiCastri was named a Scholar All-American by the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA). The Diplomats placed 12th among all Division I programs in GPA with a 3.2942 team average to earn a place on the Scholar All-American Teams list.
The top-30 teams in the nation were publicized by the NWCA as Drexel University finished atop the field with a 3.5895 GPA followed by American University (3.5497) and Harvard University (3.4962).
This year's individual award criteria were amended due to the cancelation of the NCAA Championships. To be considered for the accolade, a wrestler must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA and be a 2020 NCAA Qualifier, or must obtain a 3.2 cumulative GPA and have won 60 percent of his total matches.
LiCastri (Easton, Conn. / Joel Barlow) earned Scholar All-America honors for the first time in his career, marking just the sixth time in program history an F&M grappler garnered the distinction. The senior 165-pounder also received the EIWA Academic Achievement Award earlier this season.
F&M produced a 5-7 overall record on the year and saw five of its members register a winning record on the season.
