
CHESTERTOWN, Md. -- Franklin & Marshall men's tennis wrapped up its 2022 campaign with a 5-0 loss to Washington in the first round of the Centennial Conference (CC) tournament. The Shoremen (12-7) advance to play No. 20 Johns Hopkins in the semifinal round.
The Diplomats (7-8) dropped the initial three points of the match in doubles, coming close at both #1 and #3. Adrian Charchalis and Isaac Rockower were broken once in an 8-6 loss at #1, while Pedro Norte and Anthony Casale forced a tiebreak in an 8-7 (7-5) loss.
Washington grabbed the remaining points it needed at #1 and #3 singles, as Adrian Charchalis fell 7-5, 6-3 and Tristan Steffe dropped 6-4, 6-2 to his opponent.
The Diplomats held tight in the unfinished matches, as Justin Pace was a game away from victory at #2 - leading 6-3, 5-3 when the match was clinched. Isaac Rockower was in the midst of starting a third set, knotted up 6-2, 2-6. Pedro Norte had a similar 2-6, 6-3 split at #5, while Anthony Casale also took a set in a 6-4, 2-6 unfinished match.
