Centennial Conference Release

LANCASTER, Pa. – Matt Hopkins has been named the Centennial Conference men's swimmer of the week after his outstanding individual performance helped the Diplomats win the team title at the Franklin & Marshall Invitational over the Weekend. Hopkins combined for four event victories, winning two individual and two relay events.

Hopkins won both the 50 freestyle (20.73) and 100 freestyle (45.68), which rank atop the conference and 15th and 17th in the nation so far this season. He was also part of the Diplomats' 200 freestyle (1:22.82) and 400 freestyle (3:03.62) relay teams. Those relay times rank fifth and sixth in the nation, respectively. Hopkins added a runner-up finish in the 400 medley relay (3:31.60), placed third in the 200 medley relay (1:33.45), and finished fourth in the 100 backstroke (52.02).

The senior earns his first career swimmer of the week honors. He is already an All-American from the 2020 season when he was part of the 200-yard freestyle relay. Hopkins has also received first-team All-CC honors in that same relay during both the 2020 and 2022 seasons.

The Franklin & Marshall Invitational marked the Diplomats' final competition of the fall semester. The team will return to action on Saturday, January 14 with a home dual meet against Susquehanna at 1 p.m.
