LANCASTER, Pa.- The No. 19 Franklin & Marshall men's soccer team (11-1-4, 6-0-2 CC) came away with a 2-0 shutout win over Ursinus (3-9-3, 0-7-1 CC) on Senior Night to kickoff TrueBlue Weekend Friday evening at Tylus Field.
Shay Adamson had a memorable senior night as he put the Diplomats on the scoreboard first off a feed from Koa Kaliebe in the 24th minute of the match. Adamson made a move to lose his defender and booted a shot into the bottom-right corner of the net for his second score of the fall. Kaliebe earned his team-leading fourth assist on the play.
Kaliebe extended the F&M lead in the 54th minute, weaving past the UC defense and firing a shot past the goalkeeper for his third goal of the season. Adam Green was credited with his first assist on the play.
F&M peppered Ursinus' net, outshooting the Bears 20-6 in the game.
The Diplomats' attacked the UC net early and often, especially in the 12th minute of the game. Green had an open look at the Ursinus net, but was denied by UC goalkeeper Peter Schoenberg. Kaliebe fired a shot off the rebound, but the shot was once again saved by Schoenberg. Philip Monos tried his luck after gathering the loose ball, but his shot was blocked by a UC defender. The attack was finally extinguished as Kaliebe sent a final shot attempt that clanged off the post and deflected out of bounds for a goal kick.
No. 19 F&M went 7-0-1 in regular season home games at Tylus Field this year. The Diplomats travel to face fifth-ranked Johns Hopkins next Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
