Men's Golf Showcases Team Depth at Catholic, Marywood

LANCASTER, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall men's golf team showcased its depth on Saturday as the Diplomats sent teams to compete at both Marywood's Gino Biondi Memorial Tournament and Catholic's Cardinal Classic. Both events are scheduled to wrap up Sunday. The Diplomats will take an eight-shot lead into the final round at Catholic and are just one shot off the team pace at Marywood.

Cardinal Classic

The Diplomats posted a team score of 292 (+4) at Catholic and are leading the host Cardinals by eight shots heading into Sunday. Jack Cooley is leading the field at two-under after firing a 70 to start his weekend. Roy Anderson is right behind him at one-under (71).

Matt Durnan is tied for fourth in the field after shooting 74 (+2) on Saturday, while Chris Magliocco (+4) and Will Livingston (+4) both tied for the team's fourth score on Saturday.

The Diplomats dominated the par-5s as the team went 10-under on those chances. Anderson and Livingston were both four-under individually, with Cooley two-under on those lengthy pars. Cooley was also the only player under par (-1) on the par-4 holes as he turned in five birdies throughout his round. Anderson is tied with Cooley for the tournament lead with five birdies after 18 holes.

Gino Biondi Memorial

With a team score of 303 at Marywood, the Diplomats (+19) are just one shot behind Scranton at the Gino Biondi Memorial Tournament. Dominic Sculti (+1) is tied for first on the par-71 course after carding a pair of birdies during his round.

Jas Fuhrer (+4) and Dylan Gallagher (+6) are both among the top 10 players after 18 holes. Fuhrer carded three birdies during his round of 75 while Gallagher carded two more. Chris Dorey (+8) and Shane Lawler (+9) are 11th and 12th, respectively, in the individual standings heading into Sunday.

Men's golf will be looking for two team titles on Sunday when both tournaments wrap up their 36-hole events. These two tournaments are part of a busy three-day stretch as the Diplomats will host the F&M Fall Invitational on Monday, October 17 with a shotgun start slated for 12 p.m. at the Bent Creek Country Club.
