LANCASTER, Pa. – Jeff Decker has been named the Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week after a career day where he helped the Franklin & Marshall football team retain The Conestoga Wagon Trophy as part a 28-17 win against Dickinson. Decker becomes the third defensive player for the Diplomats to take home that honor this year (Brian Lafty, Justin Gerhart), in addition to two other teammates who were named Special Teams Player of the Week (Jack Gilroy, Laurence Miller).
Decker, a sophomore defensive lineman, led the Diplomats with a career-best nine tackles during Saturday's rivalry victory. He added 2.5 tackles for loss as a part of his 1.5 sack effort. Decker and the defensive line's effort helped limit the Red Devils to just three yards of rushing throughout the entire afternoon. Franklin & Marshall's defense registered four sacks and nine tackles for loss throughout the Centennial Conference victory.
Riding a two-game winning streak and an overall record over .500, the Diplomats travel to Muhlenberg this Saturday at 1 p.m. for a crucial CC showdown in Allentown. The Mules are currently receiving votes in the national and sitting in fourth in the conference standings. The Diplomats are currently fifth overall, but can climb the ladder with a victory this weekend.
