PHILADELPHIA – The Franklin & Marshall men's rowing team opened its fall season at the 2022 Navy Day Regatta on Sunday, October 16. The Diplomats entered six men's boats for the highly competitive regatta, which saw the Dips rowing against Division I programs.
Franklin & Marshall also entered two 4+s in the Collegiate Men's Open 4+ and the Men's Novice/Freshmen 4+. The Open 4+ took 21st in the College Final with a time of 14:19.21, defeating crews from Merchant Marine, Lafayette, and Bucknell, among others. In the novice 4+, the F&M crew took seventh, finishing with a time of 15:49.00.
The Dips also raced two eights for the day. The men's varsity 8+ took 27th in the Men's Collegiate Open 8+ with a time of 13:29.84. The Diplomats also showcased great promise for the future as the novice eight boat took 11th with a time of 15:03.20 in the Men's Collegiate Novice/Freshmen 8+.
"It was a strong day of racing on the Schuylkill River for a young crew," said Head Coach Bob Brady. "The crews also learned a lot, especially about what it means to go hard and race for 4,000-plus meters. And we have two weeks to get ready before we return to Philly for more racing."
F&M's men's and women's rowing teams will welcome back their alumni to campus this coming weekend as they host a True Blue Alumni & Parent Weekend on Campus. The team will return to competition for racing at the Head of the Schuylkill on Saturday, October 29.
