Diplomats Finished Fifth; Jordan and Wilson Top 20
Oct 2, 2009LEHIGH, Pa. - Franklin & Marshall finished fifth at 2009 Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh University Friday afternoon. The Diplomats were led by Amy Jordan's eighth place finish and Emily Wilson's 14th place (23:18). Jordan covered the six-kilometer course in 23:03 crossing the line just under a minute behind meet champion Caitlin Dorgan (22:11) from Delaware Valley College.
The Diplomats placed fifth as a team, 17 spots higher then a year ago, while the University of Ottawa came in first in the 32-team event. F&M has finished in the top five of every race this season.
F&M coach John Stoudt contributes much of this year's team success to the freshmen. "They have been a good positive influence and a breath of fresh air," Stoudt says of his first year runners.
Jordan finished 128th and Wilson placed 145th at last year's Paul Short Run. The duo has placed in the top 20 in every event this year, a much better improvement than last season.
"They both have great attitudes and work extremely hard," Stoudt says of the pair. "They work together and most importantly have built their confidence this season."
Megan Hunter (24:27) finished 54th, out of 248 runners. Jenna Bush was five seconds behind coming in at 27:32, placing 60th. Alexis Teevins, Kelly Farrelly and Kara Doolan crossed the finish line 20 seconds apart. Teevens (24:43) placed 70th, Farrelly (24:45) 72nd and Doolan finished 84th running a 25:03.
The Diplomats return to the course October 10th when they host the Friends of Sarah Run.
