Cross Country Runs Well at Spiked Shoe Invitational
Sep 13, 2008STATE COLLEGE, Pa - Emily Wilson placed 64th out of 187 runners to lead the Franklin & Marshall women's cross country team at the Harry Groves Spiked Shoe Invitational on Saturday held at Penn State.
The Diplomats took 13th place, averaging 25:18 for the 6K course. Syracuse, who won the men's side, also took top honors in the women's race with 30 points to edge out the host Nittany Lions by 15.
Wilson paced F&M with a time of 24:58. The group of Rachel Suydam, Emily Kornfeld and Kelly Farrelly finished in that exact order and just a second apart for 72nd, 73rd and 74th. Suydam ran 25:14, while Kornfeld and Farrelly each clocked in at 25:15.
Finishing fifth on the team was Jenna Bush, who ran in 25:44 for 80th overall. Amy Burke and Amy Jordan also paired up to finish close together. Burke took 88th with a time of 26:23 and Jordan was two seconds behind with 26:25 for 89th to round out the Diplomats top seven.
The Diplomats return to action on Saturday at the Dickinson Long Course/Short Course Invitational.
