Diplomats Finish Ninth at CC Championships

GETTYSBURG, Pa. - Sophomore Rachel Suydam led the Franklin & Marshall women's cross country team to a ninth-place finish at the 2008 Centennial Conference Championships held at Gettysburg on Saturday.
Suydam ran the 6K race in 24:35.06 for 38th overall, improving 37 spots from last year's race to finish first on the team this season. Johns Hopkins denied Dickinson from capturing their ninth straight championship to win the women's title with a total of 49 points to the Red Devils' 83.
Junior Lauren Paulsen was the individual winner for the Blue Jays' with a time of 22:00.09 to edge Ursinus' Christa Johnson.
Amy Jordan was four places behind Suydam, completing the race in 24:48.84 for 42nd. Sophomore Emily Kornfeld came in third on the team with a time of 25:29.82 to improve from 62nd to 56th place in one year.
Amy Burke and Jenna Bush rounded out the top five runners for the Diplomats. Burke posted a time of 26:15.90 for 69th and Bush crossed the line right behind her for 70th with a time of 26:17.11.
F&M returns to action on November 15th at the NCAA Mideast Regional Championship.
