Suydam Leads Womens Charge at Little Three
Sep 9, 2008
CARLISLE, Pa. – Rachel Suydam led the Franklin &
Marshall women’s cross country team at the 2008 Little Three
Championship. The Diplomats sophomore placed 11th amongst the
50 runners in the annual race featuring F&M, Gettysburg, and
Dickinson. She posted a time of 21:09, crossing 2:09 behind the
race-winner, Sarah Fritz of Gettysburg.
Gettysburg trumped F&M in the head-to-head standings, but it
was Dickinson that walked off with the overall title. The Red
Devils placed six runners in the top ten compared to
Gettysburg’s four. Dickinson’s Darcy McDonald took
second place to lead the pack in red. She crossed ten seconds
behind Fritz.
Suydam’s finish represents a leap of 23 places in the
standings from last year’s championship. She also shaved 1:04
off of her time from last year.
The Diplomats ran in a tight pack with the top six Diplomat
finishers spread out between 11th and 19th place. Only 27 seconds
separated that grouping. Megan Hunter finished 13th in 21:00,
followed immediately by Emily Wilson at 21:02. Kelly Farrelly and
Emily Kornfield also finished back-to-back, taking 16th and 17th
places, respectively. Amy Jordan also finished in the top 20.
The Diplomats return to action this weekend at the Harry Grove
Spiked Shoe Invitational at Penn State.
