Diplomats Back on Track

PITTSBURGH - Franklin & Marshall's volleyball team ended its four-match slide with a pair of wins at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational on Saturday. The Diplomats (15-8) defeated Pitt-Greensburg 3-1 (30-26, 30-26, 28-30, 30-20), and followed that with a 3-1 win over Lake Erie College (22-30, 30-25, 30-19, 30-23).

Margot Phelan recorded double-doubles in both wins, totaling 47 kills and 39 digs on the afternoon. She also had six blocks. Valeri Pusateri also recorded a double-double in both matches. She had 56 assists and 16 digs in the opener, and followed that effort with 47 assists in 14 digs in the second match of the afternoon.

Nicole Morano and Krysta Brown each posted double figures in the kills column in the Pitt-Greensburg match. Morano had 15 kills to go with her five total blocks. Brown had 10 kills and seven total blocks.

Danielle Diamond had nine kills in both matches. In the win over Lake Erie, she added 17 digs and a pair of aces. Morano had 12 kills and four total blocks. Jenna Walck posted 20 digs.

With the win, F&M improves to 15-8 on the season. The Diplomats return to action on Wednesday against Johns Hopkins.
