WESTMINSTER, Md. - Taylor Hergott recorded 21 kills and eight blocks to lead McDaniel College to a 3-1 Centennial Conference (CC) win over Franklin & Marshall Wednesday evening. The loss marks the first time the Diplomats (13-7, 3-2 CC) have fallen to the Green Terror (9-4, 4-0 CC) since the 1999 season, ending a nine-match F&M run on the series.
The Diplomats dropped the first two games, but extended their life with a 37-35 win in the third game. Margot Phelan led the Diplomats effort with 19 kills, 21 digs and four aces. Valerie Pusateri fed the offense with 32 assists.
The loss was Franklin & Marshall's third-straight, and fourth in the five matches since their nine-match winning streak came to a close last week. The Diplomats will seek to right the ship this weekend at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational.
