Twenty-Seven Diplomats Named to Academic Honor Roll

Twenty-seven Diplomats have been named to the 2009 Centennial Conference (CC) Fall Academic Honor Roll. To be nominated for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must participate in at least 50% of his or her team’s contests, be a sophomore or higher and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.40. Playoffs!

It has been a successful and productive fall season for Franklin & Marshall athletics with three teams advancing to the Centennial Conference (CC) playoffs in their respective sports. The Diplomats’ Field Hockey, Men’s Soccer and Volleyball teams all made the CC postseason. (more)

Diplomats Topple Garnet

Franklin & Marshall’s volleyball toppled Swarthmore 3-1 in a Centennial Conference (CC) match on Saturday. With the victory in the final tune-up before next week’s CC Championship tournament, the Diplomats close the regular season at 23-5 (9-1 CC). That marks the most wins in Mary Kate Boland’s seven years as head coach, as well as the most wins since the 2002 season. (more)

Volleyball Sweeps Mules on Homecoming

Kerry Rom posted 12 kills and nine digs to lead Franklin & Marshall to a 3-0 sweep of Muhlenberg on Homecoming Saturday. With the fourth win in their last five matches, the Diplomats improved to 22-5 (8-1 Centennial). Muhlenberg slipped to 8-12 (3-4 CC). (more)

Diplomats Secure Playoff Spot

Franklin & Marshall secured a spot in the Centennial Conference (CC) Volleyball Championship Tournament with a 3-2 win at Dickinson on Wednesday. The reigning CC Player of the Week, Nicole Morano, led F&M with 19 kills and three solo blocks. (more)

Morano Named Conference Player of the Week

Nicole Morano was named Centennial Conference (CC) Volleyball Player of the Week. Morano had 18 kills with just four errors on 31 attempts for a .452 hitting percentage. She also added three solo blocks and a block assist in a 3-2 win over Hopkins. The Diplomats are currently 20-5 and are in second place in the Conference. (more)

Diplomats Split at DeSales

Franklin & Marshall’s volleyball team split a pair of matches at DeSales Saturday afternoon. The Diplomats (19-5) defeated Widener 3-0 in their first match and lost 3-2 to DeSales in the second. (more)

Fords Drive Home With Win

#20 Haverford edged Franklin & Marshall in two tight games to sneak away from the Mayser Center with a 3-1 win in Centennial Conference (CC) volleyball Wednesday night. The Fords (19-2, 5-0 CC) held onto first place in the league, while handing the Diplomats (18-4, 5-1 CC) their first setback in conference play. (more)

Diplomats Roll Over Owls

Franklin & Marshall’s volleyball team steamrolled Bryn Mawr 25-13, 25-11, 25-17 in Centennial Conference (CC) action on Monday. The win was the Diplomats’ (18-3, 5-0 CC) third-straight, and marked F&M’s 12th 3-0 sweep in its last 13 matches. (more)

Former All-Region setter Mary Kate Boland '01 returned to Franklin & Marshall College in the fall of 2003 as the 10th head coach in Diplomats' volleyball history and has had a dramatic impact on the program leading the team to the 2005 Centennial Conference title match. A 1998-2000 American Volleyball Coaches Association All Mid-Atlantic Region player, she averaged 10.19 assists per game to lead the Diplomats to a school record 34-6 mark, a perfect 10-0 conference record, the Centennial Conference Tournament title and a "Sweet 16" finish in the NCAA Division III Volleyball Tournament as a senior.
