Volleyball Wraps Up Regular Season With Win
Nov 1, 2008LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall’s volleyball team wrapped up the regular season with a 3-2 (25-16, 15-25, 20-25, 25-16, 15-12) win over Swarthmore in Centennial Conference (CC) play on Saturday. The win was the fourth in a row for F&M (12-15, 7-3 CC), which had locked up the four-seed for the upcoming CC Championship Tournament. Swarthmore dropped to 6-19, 2-7.
Margot Phelan paced the Diplomats with 12 kills and 22 digs, while Nicole Morano chipped in with nine kills. Pam Horner posted 23 assists and Val Pusateri aided the offense with 17 more. That combination posted 20 and 10 digs, respectively, while Horner added four aces.
Swarthmore got a match-high 22 kills from Jen Wang and an additional 17 kills from Genny Pezzola. The pair combined for 51 digs and seven aces. The Garnet played the match with seven players in uniform.
The Diplomats will return to action on Wednesday night at the Mayser Center, for the opening round of the conference championship. The Diplomats will host Dickinson.
