Morano Earns Player of the Week Honors

Oct 28, 2008

LANCASTER, Pa.--Sophomore middle hitter Nicole Morano was named the Centennial Conference’s (CC)Player of the Week in volleyball following her performance in last week’s critical league wins over Dickinson and Muhlenberg, both of which were necessary to keep the Diplomats’ postseason hopes alive.

Morano is the first Diplomat volleyball player to earn the honor this season. She helped the volleyball team win two crucial conference matches this week. She averaged 3.83 kills per game and recorded a .465 hitting percentage in two straight-set victories. Morano had 23 kills on 43 attempts with only three errors.

Morano was forced to share the honor with Gettysburg’s Kristin Kotewicz. Kotewicz averaged 7.14 digs per set as Gettysburg posted a pair of conference victories last week.  Kotewicz totaled a team season-high 27 digs in a 3-1 victory over McDaniel. Against Swarthmore, the Bullets’ libero crossed the 20-dig plateau of with 23 digs in a 3-0 victory.

Franklin & Marshall is 11-15 (6-3 CC) on the season, and has secured a spot in the league's championship tournament. F&M has one remaining game on the regular season, this Saturday's match against Swarthmore. The Diplomats will be playing for the right to secure the fourth seed, which would give F&M home court advantage for the first round match.
