Diplomats Take Sixth at Centennial Championships

HAVERFORD, Pa. - Franklin & Marshall's track teams each took sixth place at the Centennial Conference Championships. The women finished in sixth amongst nine competing teams, while the women competed in a ten-team field. Haverford won the Conference Championship on both the men's and women's sides.
Leading the charge for the women, Karen Ziga took gold in the 10,000-meter and silver in the 5,000-meter. She won the 10,000-meter run with NCAA provisional qualifying time of 37:34.52 giving her 12 seconds on the field. She finished 30 seconds off of the pace set by Dickinson's Caitlin Bradley in the 5,000.
Erin Gleason took the silver medal in the shot put wih a 38' 5" hurl. She came up 2.5 inches short of Muhlenberg's gold medalist, Debra Crockett. Gleason also finished fifth in the discus and sixth in the javelin.
Libby Haas took second place in the high jump, clearing the bar at 4' 11.75 inches. She came up two inches short of the championship height, cleared by Muhlenberg's Katie Hicks.
Vanessa Pabon earned the bronze medal in the triple jump, landing 34' 10.5 inches. Gettysburg jumpers took the top two places.
Jon Brallier won the men's outdoor pole vault for the third consecutive year clearing at 15' 6.25".
Kwaku Anno won the long jump by a 11.5 inches. He leapt 23'2", an NCAA provisional qualifying mark. Lucas Burbank also posted an NCAA provisional qualifier in winning the javelin competition. He threw 192' 3", besting the field by more than six feet.
Jake Gomolinski-Ekel and Steven Tracy took the gold and silver, respectively, in the 200-meter dash. Gomolinski-Ekel clocked a 21.94, followed by Tracy at 21.96. Gomolinski-Ekel grabbed silver in the 400 running a 49.50. Gettysburg's Ryan Keane won the race in 48.78. Tracy also picked up a silver medal in the 100. He logged a 10.89, finishing behind Ursinus' Brandon Evans, who won with a meet record time of 10.81.
Tracy, Anno, Brallier, and Gomolinski-Ekel combined for the gold medal in the 4x100 relay with a 42.41.
