Diplomats Host Centennial Tennis Invitational

LANCASTER, Pa. - All three of Franklin & Marshall's doubles pairs were bumped from the main bracket of the Centennial Invitational on the first day of the weekend-long competition. The tournament is being played at Franklin & Marshall's Brooks Tennis Center.

Ally Warshaver and Julia Lange fell 8-1 to Muhlenberg's Caitie Druker and Sara Sutker, while Haverford's Karen Lavi and Katherine Wettick slipped by Valeri Harteg and Jenna Ishkanian, 8-6.

Dana Russo and Erica Wood were handed an 8-1 loss by the Bryn Mawr duo of Karen Ginsburg and Melissa Mansh, but bounced back in the consolation quarterfinals with an 8-5 win over Myah Blazar and Jacquelyn Magner of Muhlenberg.

Russo and Ginsburg faced off again in one of Friday evening's three first-round matches. Ginsburg again came out on top with a 2-6, 6-1, 10-5 win.

The teams reconvene tomorrow morning in Lancaster to settle doubles competition. The day will also feature a full compliment of singles matches. Wood and Dani Barish will each face Dickinson opponents on the strength of a first-round bye. Wood will see Joelle Nitzberg, while Barish will face off with Sarah Woodward.
