Diplomats Survive Muhlenberg

LANCASTER, Pa. - Franklin & Marshall secured its place in the Centennial Championships by way of a 5-4 win over Muhlenberg Wednesday evening. The Diplomats picked up victories in four of the six singles matches and at third doubles for the victory. The fourth-straight win, and tenth in 11 matches, improved F&M's record to 11-3 (8-1 CC). Muhlenberg fell to 7-6 (5-4 CC).

Katie Gaskins (Richmond, VA / Godwin Mills) improved to 11-6 on the year with a 6-1; 6-2 win over the Mules' Jenn Powell at first singles. The Diplomats swept the bottom half of the ladder, winning fourth through sixth singles. Dana Russo (Livingston, NJ / Livingston) and Jenna Ishkanian (Wyckoff, NJ / Ramapo) each won their fourth consecutive match taking fifth and sixth singles, respectively. Russo (11-5) won 6-0; 6-1 over Danielle Weiss, while Ishkanian (10-2) defeated Maddy Goldfarb 6-1; 6-0.

Dani Barish (Brooklandville, MD / SPSG) took fourth singles 7-6 (7-4); 6-3 from Jacqui Magner. Barish (12-5) and Russo combined for the decisive doubles match, downing Magner and Goldfarb 8-6.
