CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Senior Megan Morse set the Washington College record in the 100 freestyle with a time of 53.66 seconds in the leadoff leg of the 400 freestyle relay as the Shorewomen downed visiting Franklin & Marshall, 128-77, in Centennial Conference women's swimming action on Saturday afternoon at the Casey Swim Center. It is the first victory for Washington (6-1, 2-1 CC) over the Diplomats since a 137-73 triumph on November 17, 2001.

The Shorewomen won eight of nine individual events versus Franklin & Marshall (3-5, 1-2 CC). The lone victory for the Diplomats was in the 200 backstroke. Brittany McCabe delivered the victory with a 2:12.16, beating teammate Lucia Parry to the wall by 4.2 seconds. McCabe helped the Diplomats split the afternoon's relays, contributing the first leg in the 400-medley relay. Laura Bassford, Jennie Payne, and Meghan Karanian did the rest of the work, swimming to a 4:12.96 finish, giving them almost four seconds on the Shorewomen.

Franklin & Marshall is idle until after the semester break. The Diplomats will resume competition following a winter training trip in the new year.
