BOSTON - Franklin & Marshall's women's squash team dropped a 5-4 decision to Tufts in the opening round of the College Squash Association (CSA) Championships. The Diplomats (7-10) are competing for the Walker Cup, which plays out for the 17th through 24th positions in the final national rankings.

The Jumbos (4-14) took the second through sixth positions to claim the win. F&M owned the No.1 match with Morgan Smith surrendering only six points - all in the first game - en route to the 3-0 win over Victoria Barba. Tanya Arora, Dana Russo and Erin Jaffee swept the eigth through tenth positions, respectively.  No. 7 Kelsey Tylus fell behind 2-1, but took 18 of the matches final 21 points for the win.

The Diplomats will face Colby at 4:30 pm on Saturday in the consolation semis. F&M dropped a regular season meeting with Colby at the Smith/Holyoke Round Robin. F&M's number one, Morgan Smith, played her sister, Samantha, to five games in that match. Courtney Mulligan, Kelsey Tylus, Alek Woods and Dana Russo posted the Diplomats wins in that match.

The Jumbos will move on to face Vassar in the Walker semifinals tomorrow morning.  You can follow the tournament throughout the weekend on the CSA's Howe Cup web site.
