Diplomats Split First Day of Beach Blast

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va, -- Franklin & Marshall's softball team split the first day of the Virginia Beach Blast, winning 5-3 over John Jay before falling 7-5 to Emory & Henry.
Nicole Morano twirled a complete game in nabbing the afternoon's
win. in her first collegiate game in the circle, the sophomore
hurler fanned seven batters and limited the Bloodhounds to two
hits. She retired the last 17 batters she faced. Samantha Basuk,
Meredith Morgan, and Alyssa Yackle each recorded an RBI in the
win.
Sara Damato was saddled with the loss to Emory & Henry. The
freshman allowed five earned runs in four-plus innings of work in
her collegiate debut. Kelly Marchisio and Jessika Mancino picked up
three hits each, while first-year Gina Camuso recorded the first
multiple hit collegiate game of her career.
F&M returns to action tomorrow when the Diplomats face Lycoming and York (N.Y.).
