Two in a Row for Diplomats
Sep 9, 2009LANCASTER, Pa. - Franklin & Marshall Women's soccer team picked up their second win in a row defeating Alvernia 2-0 in non-conference soccer action Wednesday evening. Shelby Cummins kicked in both goals as the Diplomats improved to 2-1 on the season. Alvernia drops their second straight game, falling to 1-3 for the year.
The Diplomats got on board in the 58th minute as a scramble ensued in front of the Crusaders cage. Jen Korngut managed to play the ball a few feet to Cummins who found the back left corner of the net. Cummins struck again in 79th minute. She cashed in on a breakaway, shooting to the left corner.
F&M outshot the Crusaders 14-5 and kicked six corners to Alvernia's one.
Diplomats' Katie Golding improves to 2-1, picking up three saves in the contest. The Crusaders Kristen Kelley stopped five shots in taking the loss.
