Lebanon Valley Shuts Out Women's Soccer
Sep 25, 2008ANNVILLE, Pa. - Dana Thomsen recorded a goal and an assist, while Alyson Reitmeyer made one save to record the shutout and lead Lebanon Valley post Franklin & Marshall 3-0 in non-conference women's soccer action on Thursday.
Thomsen assisted Lauren King on the first goal of the afternoon and then converted a penalty kick in the second half to help the Flying Dutchmen (5-3-1) avenge a 1-0 loss to the Diplomats (4-2) last season.
Erin Roy made five saves in goal for F&M and Shannon Summers was the lone player to put a shot on goal in 90 minutes of play.
In the 18th minute, Thomsen got the ball to King who headed it in for a 1-0 advantage. That lead would stand until halftime and grew to 2-0 four minutes after the opening whistle of the second half on a goal from 20 yards out by Ely Kirkhoff.
The last tally came in the 62nd minute when Lebanon Valley was awarded a penalty kick and Thomsen made the final margin, 3-0.
The Flying Dutchmen took 10 shots to the Diplomats five and held a 3-2 edge in corner kicks.
F&M returns to action on Saturday at Washington. Game time is 1 p.m.
