Four Diplomats Labeled All-American

LANCASTER, Pa. - A quartet of juniors on the Franklin & Marshall women's lacrosse team were named All-Americans by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA)/US Lacrosse and womenslacrosse.com to add to their postseason accolades.

Jen Pritchard and Sarah Meisenberg were named to both first teams, while Shannon Summers earned IWLCA/US Lacrosse second-team honors and was a womenslacrosse.com third-team selection. Ashley Bevington was a third-team choice by IWLCA/US Lacrosse.

Pritchard was named a womenslacrosse.com All-American for the third consecutive season, after being named to the first team in 2007 and third team in 2006. The attacker also repeats as an IWLCA First-Team All-American, earning her sixth All-American honor for her career. Pritchard was recently named to the Metro All-Region first team and garnered a spot on the NCAA All-Tournament team. She averaged 3.38 goals per game, scoring a team-high 71 on the season. Pritchard registered three or more goals in 16 out of 21 games, scoring a season-best six against McDaniel.

Meisenberg joins Pritchard on the womenslacrosse.com first team for the second straight year, while moving up to an IWLCA First-Team All-American after landing second-team honors last spring. The midfielder had a stellar season, setting career highs in goals (44), assists (35), and points (79) and free-position goals (14). Meisenberg, one of four players to score 40 or more goals, averaged 3.95 points per game and tied for first on the team with 54 ground balls. She also was named to the NCAA All-Tournament Team and to the Metro All-Region first team.

Summers is earning her first All-American accolades this season. She was one of five named to the Metro All-Region Team and earned All-CC second-team recognition. Summers led the squad with 4.42 points and 2.58 assists per game. Her 49 assists this season broke the Diplomats' single-season assists record. Summers recorded 19 points throughout the NCAA Tournament, reaching her 200th career point in the national semifinals.

Bevington picked up All-American recognition for the second time in her career being named to the IWLCA/US Lacrosse third team. She was also a All-CC first-team selection, scoring 34 goals and dishing out three assists for 37 points. She scored a season-high five goals against Rowan and netted the game-winning goals in wins over Dickinson and Gettysburg.

The IWLCA and US Lacrosse will honor the National All-Americans at an awards banquet on June 14, 2008 in King of Prussia, Pa.
