The Diplomats of Franklin & Marshall, the 2009 NCAA Champions, open the 2010 season where they ended the laston top of the polls. The Dips took 15 of the 20 first-place votes to nip 2009 runner-up Salisbury for the top spot in the rankings. The Sea Gulls, who earned three first-place votes, come in at second, while F&Ms conference rival Gettysburg received two top votes and starts off in third in the poll.

Diplomats Picked to Repeat
Coming off of its second NCAA Division III Championship in three years, the Franklin & Marshall womens lacrosse team has been ranked number one by Lacrosse Magazine. The magazine issued it its preseason poll on Tuesday, December 22.

Sanza Shows how its Done
She has two NCAA Division III National Championships and a third NCAA championship game appearance through three seasons. She has twice been named All-American and Goalkeeper of the Year. She allowed only 38 goals on 123 shots from eight meters, stopping 70 percent of the free position shots she faced in 2009. So when Lacrosse magazine wanted to show the world how to stop the FPS, they did as the Diplomats do -- turned to Lidia Sanza.

On Sunday, October 25, 2009, Franklin & Marshall hosted the Second Annual Womens Lacrosse Alumnae game. The Alumnae returned to campus during Homecoming Weekend for the chance to challenge the current 2010 Diplomats on Tylus Field.

Meisenberg and Singleton Recognized by IWLCA
The Intercollegiate Womens Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) has recognized 407 student-athletes at 152 institutions for their excellence in the classroom during the 2008-09 academic year. All student-athletes were nominated by their institutions and have attained at least junior standing academically. Nominees considered had a GPA of at least 3.5 or were in the top 10 percent of their squad. Two members of Franklin & Marshalls NCAA Division III National Championship team, Sarah Meisenberg and Stolle Singleton were counted amongst the 407.

F&M Announces 2009 Athletics Hall of Fame Class
Franklin & Marshalls Department of Athletics and Recreation announced its 2009 Hall of Fame Class on Thursday. The class includes seven inductees: Liz Mackey, Carmen Trombini Glenn, Todd Marshall, Jehangir Pandole, Joseph J. Rothermel, Mary Schapiro (pictured), and Paige Worth.

National Champ Set to Summit Kilimanjaro in Peace Corps Climb
For the past two years, Beverly Menghetti '07 has served in the Peace Corps as a science and mathematics teacher at an all-girls government boarding school in southern Tanzania. Besides teaching in the classroom, she and other Tanzanian teachers facilitate a peer educator health club at the school. Now the former Diplomat laxer, who was a member of F&M's first national championship team as a senior, is set to summit Mt. Kilimanjaro with a group of students.

A two-time All-America choice and three-time Intercollegiate Womens Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-Metro Region First Team selection for the Diplomats, Lauren Paul 03, became the 10th womens lacrosse coach in the programs history in September, 2008.
