Meisenberg and Singleton Recognized by IWLCA
Sep 3, 2009
The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) has recognized 407 student-athletes at 152 institutions for their excellence in the classroom during the 2008-09 academic year. All student-athletes were nominated by their institutions and have attained at least junior standing academically. Nominees considered had a GPA of at least 3.5 or were in the top 10 percent of their squad. Two members of Franklin & Marshall's NCAA Division III National Championship team, Sarah Meisenberg and Stolle Singleton were counted amongst the 407.
Early in the summer, Meisenberg earned IWLCA All-American honors for the third time in her career and first team honors for the second time. The 2009 graduate majored in both Biology and Public Policy at F&M. Despite injuries that hampered her playing time and numbers in 2009, she was third on the team in assists (30), including the helper to Blake Hargest's overtime in game winner in the NCAA National Championship Game.
A field hockey standout at F&M, Singleton appeared in four lacrosse games for the National Champions, and is currently a senior Government major.
Franklin & Marshall wrapped up the 2009 season with its third straight championship appearance and second NCAA title in three years.
