Pritchard and Sanza Honored by Centennial

Apr 20, 2009

LANCASTER, Pa. - Franklin & Marshall's women's lacrosse team had two players honored by the Centennial Conference this week. Jen Pritchard (Media, Pa. / Penncrest) shared the Centennial Conference Player of the Week award, while Lidia Sanza (Cockeysville, Md. / St. Paul's School for Girls) was named the Centennial's Defensive Player of the Week.

Sanza came up huge against fourth-ranked College of New Jersey (10-2), turning away 15 of 23 shots on goal in a 17-8 Diplomat victory. She posted a 65.2 save percentage on the night and faced down 17 free positions. The honor is the second from the Centennial for Sanza this season. She was named the Defensive Player of the Week on April 6. That honor was the fourth of her career. Sanza was named to the WomensLacrosse.com team of the week on April 13.

An All-American in each of her three completed seasons, Pritchard scored 10 goals and handed out three assists in a 2-0 week for the Diplomats.  She tallied four goals and an assist in #3 F&M's 17-8 win over TCNJ. She scored six goals and was credited with two helpers in the 20-5 win over Haverford. Pritchard has scored in 62 consecutive games and 75 of the 76 career games she has played. The April 22, 2006 meeting against Bryn Mawr marks the last time she didn't score in an F&M game.

Pricthard shared the award with Hollis Stahl of Gettysburg. Stahl scored six goals and dished out an assist for a career-high seven points in the Bullets' (13-1, 8-0 CC) win against Ursinus (5-11, 4-5 CC).  She has a 16-game goal-scoring streak.

Pritchard was previously named the Nike/Inside Lacrosse Player of the Week Division III after opening this season with seven goals and one assist in two games. Her honor marks the second time a Diplomat has been named the Centennial's Co-Offensive Player of the Week this season.

The Diplomats boast the nation's top defense, and is ranked third in total points scored. F&M ranks fourth in the NCAA in scoring margin. The Diplomats, defending back-to-back Centennial Conference championships, will close out the regular season tomorrow against Gettysburg. The winner of that game will earn the right to host the Centennial Conference Championship Tournament.
