Pritchard Honda DIII Athlete of the Year

NEW YORK – Franklin & Marshall graduate, Jen Pritchard ’09, has been named the 2008-2009 Division III Women’s Lacrosse Athlete of the Year. The Collegiate Women Sports Awards, sponsored by Honda, bestowed the honor upon the Diplomats’ attack.

The Collegiate Women Sports Award selects the top player in each NCAA Division of each NCAA sponsored women’s sport. The winner of the Division III Athlete of the Year will be presented her award at a June 22 press conference in New York City in the Low Library at Columbia University. To honor her nomination, The American Honda Motor Co., Inc. will donate $1,000 to the women’s athletic fund of Franklin & Marshall College.

Pritchard landed on the US Lacrosse/IWLCA All-America first team for the third consecutive season in 2009. She scored a team-high 68 times for Franklin & Marshall, the 2009 Division III National Champions, including a team-high seven game-winning goals. She was also dominant on the draw circle colleting possession 53 times in 2009.

The two-time NCAA Championship Tournament's Most Outstanding Player (2007 and 2009), she ends her career having scored in the final 69 games of her career, an NCAA record. She scored in 83 of her 84 career games. She twitched twine 268 times in her career, 47 more times than the previous record holder. She wrapped her career with 320 total points, resetting that school record as well. She has the NCAA record for career goals in the tournament (53) and in a single tournament (19 in 2007).

Franklin & Marshall advanced to the NCAA Championship game in each of the past three seasons and advanced as far as the regional final in Pritchard’s freshman year. The three trips to the championship game yielded an NCAA Championship in 2007 and 2009.
