2008 Alumni Game

Oct 13, 2008

Yeer Alumnae

On Saturday, October 11, 2008, lady Diplomats from all over the country came together to participate in the First Annual Women's Lacrosse Alumnae Game.  Fifteen of F&M's finest lacrosse players returned to challenge the current 2009 Women's Lacrosse team in front of an enthusiastic crowd on North Campus Field.  Coached by Sue McKay '80, the Alumnae team dazzled the crowd with their old school moves and wooden sticks.  The women were thrilled to be back on campus playing for the their blue and white pride.  After a long battle, it was the current F&M lady Dips who walked away with their first W for the new season.  When asked about the game Laura Fine '03 commented, "we had a ton of fun today and we [the Alumnae] can't wait to cheer on the team in the Spring!"

After the game, alumni, current players, parents and fans enjoyed each other's company at the tailgate.  Rumor has it that a few Alumnae only agreed to participate in the game contingent on a tailgate following the game.  All Alumnae agreed that F&M parents are still the best in the tailgate business.

The final event of the day moved everyone over to Williamson-Sponaugle Field during football's halftime as Lauren Petrella-Greer '94 was inducted into F&M's Hall of Fame for her lacrosse achievements.  It was the perfect way to end such a successful day.

When asked to comment on the First Annual Women's Alumnae Game, Kelly Cassels '07 could only say one phrase, "Yeer Dips."  And really, what else is there to say but "Yeer Dips."
