Haas Takes Fifth in ECAC High Jump

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - Libby Haas' fifth place finish in the high jump highlighted Saturday's portion of Franklin & Marshall's performance at the ECAC Indoor Track and Field Championships at Wesleyan University. Haas cleared the bar at 5' 3.75", four inches below the ECAC champion, Jennifer Harlow of Wheaton (Mass.).

Alyssa Catalano took 11th in the weight throw with a hurl of 46-feet even. Julia Hopson of Fredonia State recorded a throw of 54' 6.5" for the event championship. Megan Hunter's time of 1:21.40 was good enough for 15th in the 500-meter dash, won by Danielle Simmons of Rochester Institute of Technology in 1:16.57. The women finished in 41st place amongst the 56 teams competing.

For the men, Jake Gomolinski-Ekel exacted a bit of revenge on Ursinus' Josh Hannum. Gomolinski-Ekel slipped in .03 seconds ahead of Hannum, who took silver in the 200-meter dash at the Centennial Championships last week by beating the F&M runner by .01 seconds. Gomolinski-Ekel's mark of 22.85 was good enough for seventh place. The Diplomat men finished in 50th place amongst the 55 competing teams.
