Ziga Places Seventh in 5,000

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - Karen Ziga placed seventh in the 5,000-meter at the ECAC Indoor Track and Field Championships, which are being hosted this weekend by Wesleyan College. Ziga clocked a mark of 18:25.95. Williams' Rachel Asher won the race in 17:44.66. Ziga, the Centennial Conference Champion in the 5000-meter, was the only Diplomat to compete for the women's team on Friday's portion of the competition. Through seven events scored, F&M is in 30th place amongst the 33 teams competing.
The only men to compete on Friday were Pole Vaulters Jon Brallier and Zach Barninger. They tied for 13th place with marks of 14' 0.5". Eastern Connecticut's Rory Maxwell won the pole vault by clearing the bar at 15' 6.25".
The championship meet wraps up on Saturday.
