Diplomats Compete At Susquehanna Classic

SELINSGROVE, Pa. - Alyssa Catalano, Erin Gleason and Shannon Weir each finished first in their respective event to lead the Franklin & Marshall women's indoor track & field team at the Susquehanna Orange & Maroon Classic on Sunday afternoon.

For the second straight meet, Catalano captured the weight throw with a toss of 44-10.75. Gleason won the shot put (37-05.75), while Catalano was a close second with 36-07.00. Weir led the pack in the 5,000m race with a time of 20.10.84.

On the men's side, Freddy Martino led the Diplomats with a second-place finish in the triple jump with a leap of 41-02.25. Jake Gomolinski took fourth in the 200m dash (24.17) followed by Mike Arnold in fifth (24.79). Gomolinski ran 53.59 for another fourth-place finish in the 400m.

Kwaku Anno hit the 20-10.50 mark in the long jump, while Ryan Bell took seventh in the 5,000m with a time of 17-04.27.

Gleason also earned fifth place in the weight throw with a distance of 38-05.00. Megan Hunter ran 1:01.73 to finish second in the 400m, while leading the team and taking second in the 200m with a time of 27.89.

In the women's mile, Rachel Suydam and Amy Burke were the top finishers for F&M. Suydam ran 5:45.53 for sixth place and Burke crossed the line in 6:09.68 for 10th overall.

The Diplomats return to action on Saturday at the Lebanon Valley Invitational. Meet time is 10 a.m.
