Catalano Keeps Breaking Records
Feb 22, 2009PRINCETON, NJ - Alyssa Catalano reset the school and Centennial Conference (CC) record with a 55-05.75 in the weight throw. The distance was good enough for first place, leading the Franklin & Marshall women's indoor track & field team effort at the Princeton Invitational on Sunday.
Catalano's weight throw keeps her provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division III meet. She also took first in the shot put, throwing a season-best 39-10.00. Teammate Erin Gleason was second in the shot put with a toss of 38-09.50 and took fourth in the weight throw (40-08.75).
In the 3,000m race, the Diplomats swept the top three spots led by Margaret Capp in first place with a time of 12:56.38. Jenna Bush was second in 12:57.04 and Keira Rakoff came in third in 13:04.46.
Sophomore Amy Jordan took fourth in the 800m race to pace F&M with a time of 2:28.36. The final event for the women was the mile with Amy Burke taking the top spot for the Diplomats in sixth place. Burke ran 6:05.04 and Emily Kornfeld was right behind her with a time of 6:10.82.
F&M returns to action next weekend at the Centennial Conference Championships at Ursinus.
