Fiala Takes Millersville Medal

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - Franklin & Marshall first-year, Julia Fiala, shot an 88 on Wednesday claim the individual medalist honors at the Millersville Invitational. Fiala held two strokes on her classmate, Meghan Maloney. The pair paced F&M to a 379, one stroke behind West Chester University, which took the team title in the field of three squads.
The Golden Rams secured the title with four golfers in the top seven spots. Tori Valente and Nicole Fisher shot 93 and 94, for third and fourth places, respectively.
Fiala held a three stroke advantage on the front nine with a 42. She gave two strokes back on the back nine. Only Maloney carded a lower score on the back nine with a 44. F&M's Grace Gallagher tied West Chester's Courtney Kling for fifth place at 95 strokes. The Rams Annie Bahnick took seventh place with a 96 to round out WCU's scoring four. Saira Dar completed F&M's scoring group with a 106 for ninth place. Beth Holt shot 108 for 10th, while Andrea Huffman shot 119 for 12th place.
Millersville had only three golfers finish and did not register a team score. Victoria Hess shot 113 for 11th place to pace the Marauders.
The Diplomats return to action on October 8 at the McDaniel Invitational.
